On Thursday, the SCCRC published its ruling on the case, reporting that it was “not in the interests of justice” to continue with a review of Megrahi’s conviction.
The commission said it had not received defence papers from those appealing Megrahi’s conviction despite repeated requests over a 14-month period.
It also reported more than a year had passed without information crucial to the appeal being provided by lawyers working for the Megrahi family.
The SCCRC added: “The commission is unable to consider the relevant matters properly and has little confidence in the willingness of the Megrahi family to cooperate with the current review or to take forward any subsequent appeal.
