Remembrance Week 2014 is October 19-25.
Chalk The Quad – Remembrance and Lockerbie Scholars will be chalking the quad so that students around campus will learn about the activities being held during Remembrance Week entire week.
Location: The Shaw Quadrangle

Remembrance Chairs – A display of chairs, each representing a student that perished in the Pan Am 103 bombing. Inscribed on each of the chairs are acts of kindness, encouragement, and support undertaken by members of the Syracuse University community.
Location: The Shaw Quadrangle, in front of Hendricks Chapel

Monday, October 20th
Walk for Peace
Dove Balloon Release
Candle Light Vigil
– At 6:15 PM, participants will meet on the Quad in front of Hendricks Chapel and join in a short Walk for Peace.
– At approximately 6:45 PM, several a cappella groups will sing “In Remembrance” from Requiem as 35 bio-safe balloons, each in the shape of a dove and each representing 1 of the 35 Syracuse students killed in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, will be released.
-Following the balloon release, all participants will participate in the Candle Light Vigil walk to the Wall of Remembrance.
All are welcome to participate.

Tuesday, October 21st
Acting Forward: Have a few minutes to spare? In honor of Remembrance Week, we will be making a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches for Oxford Inn and Bishop Foery Foundation to send meaningful messages to those in need! We need to make 375 sandwiches for these 2 deserving agencies. Stop by the Whitman Atrium for a few minutes for a fun and an engaging way to get involved in the community.

Wednesday, October 22nd
Open Mic Night: Join us for a night of poetry, music, and more to remember the victims of Pan Am 103 and act forward for the peace.
Location: Slocum Auditorium
Time: 6pm to 8pm.
Thursday, October 23rd
Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion: A panel will discuss the affects of terrrorism on small towns, focusing on Lockerbie, Scotland and Shanksville, PA.
The discussion will be followed by a screening of “We Were Quiet Once,” a documentary produced by SU alumna Laura Beachy ‘12. The documentary tells the story of 9/11, specifically United Flight 93′s crash in the Pennsylvania countryside and how that event affected the small town of Shanksville, PA.

Time: panel starts at 7:00, documentary screening starts at 8:00.
Friday, October 24th
Rose Laying Ceremony: The rose laying ceremony is the culminating event of Remembrance Week in which each of the Remembrance and Lockerbie Scholars honor and remember all those lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, especially the 35 Syracuse students. Each scholar will lay a rose on the Wall of Remembrance in honor of a Syracuse student.

Remembrance Convocation: The Remembrance Convocation honors this year’s Remembrance and Lockerbie Scholars. The Convocation will be followed by a reception in the lobby of the Heroy Geology Building.
